What Are Dental Bridges?
Bridges are dental devices used to replace one or more missing teeth. They comprise an underlying framework that “bridges” the opening created by missing teeth, as well as one or more “false” teeth shaped and tinted to match the surrounding teeth. Bridges can be either removable or fixed with both types attaching to the teeth on either side of the gap. These teeth are usually covered in crowns to help strengthen them so they can support the extra pressure created during biting and chewing.
How Do Tooth Bridges Compare To A Partial Denture?
Both bridges and partial dentures can be used to replace missing teeth, but because they’re attached to your teeth, bridges tend to provide a better, more comfortable fit than a partial denture.
Which Is The Better Option: A Fixed Bridge Or A Removable Bridge?
Fixed bridges may feel and behave more like your natural teeth because they’re designed to stay in place; however, they can be difficult to clean under and around, which means it may be easier for bacteria to build up. Removable bridges are easier to care for because they can be taken out when brushing or flossing your teeth and during regular dental visits.
